The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has recently approved infrastructure projects, which include the construction of the Legislative Assembly, High Court buildings, five iconic towers, and extensive roadworks for the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS). The total investment for these developments is estimated at ₹24,276 crore.
Legislative Assembly Details
The Legislative Assembly will be constructed on 103 acres in Amaravati. Its estimated cost is ₹765 crore. The building will feature a 250-meter-high tower. It will encompass a total area of 11.22 lakh square feet. The tower will also be accessible to visitors when the Legislature is not in session.
High Court Specifications
The High Court is set to be built on 42 acres, with a budget of ₹1,049 crore. The structure will stand 55 meters tall and consist of seven floors. It will cover a total area of 20.32 lakh square feet, providing ample space for judicial operations.
Iconic Towers Overview
Five iconic towers will be constructed at a cost of ₹4,688 crore. These towers will occupy a combined area of 68,88,064 square feet. One notable tower, the GAD tower, will feature 47 floors and span 17,03,433 square feet. The towers will accommodate offices for Ministers, Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and their staff.
Land Pooling Scheme Roads
The APCRDA has also greenlit the construction of 579.5 km of LPS roads. These roads will include essential infrastructure such as sewage and drinking water lines, stormwater drains, and electrical and telecom cables. The total expenditure for these roadworks is projected at ₹9,699 crore.
Minister P. Narayana brought into light that construction costs for government buildings have surged by 49.02% since 2017-18. The costs for iconic towers, flood canals, and LPS works have risen by 41%, 39%, and 28% to 35%, respectively. This increase reflects the growing financial demands of infrastructure development in the region.
